Step 2 – Add a pre-populated text message (up to 160 characters)

The next step is to add a message that will form the body of your text message or SMS that will go to the phone number you enter in step 1. You may even choose to leave it blank. Step 3 – Customize the QR code (optional)

When a user taps on the notification, the user will be automatically led to the messaging app with a pre-filled number and a text message that has been set for the QR code.

When a user scans the QR code using the QR Scanner access from the control centre, the user will get some options that include send message, call number, add to contacts etc.

Android Camera App

Though the QR Code for SMS does not work too well for Android phones, it is still a very good utility. When a user scans the QR code using the default Camera app, a notification ‘View QR code details’ will appear. Upon tapping this, the number and the message is revealed. From here the user can only copy the number and the message and then they will have to go to the messaging app where the number and the message will automatically appear. However, this may vary with different Android phone.
